How many times have we seen cases that an air-cond contractor fell off from a high building while servicing air-conds? Let us prevent accident deaths!

The most recent case is a contractor fell down from Dang Wangi Police Station on 22 June 2021. Another was 08 Feb 2021 fell down from an apartment in Jalan Bukit Puchong while exiting from a window. 17 Aug 2016 a technician fell down in Georgetown also climbing out from window but luckily he survived. 21 May 2014 a young 21 year old fell down at Taipan Subang Jaya and die. 10 June 2016 an aircond man fell down from 11th floor while installing aircond in Johor. 

In fact there are many more cases but many are hidden especially condominium cases. DOSH only takes care of construction fatality apparently. But isn't it when builders or developers build condominiums or apartments, these safety features should be included and add on as a priority after the building is built?

Developers should be made to build safety grills for air-cond compressors that is hanging out at the wall. It should not just a simple ledge or a hanging bracket. The compressors should not be hanging just below a kitchen window and expect the contractor to jump down from the window which they may slipped.

Air-cond contractors should wear safety harness but the building must provide a location for them to hang and not hook at a fragile window frame. They are earning a low income while taking high risks. 

These are preventable accidents and I hope we can influence the authorities to make sure these rich developers do their part. Thank you.
