Kootenays say YES to abolishing daylight saving time.

Numerous communities worldwide have chosen to abolish the time changes that occur in the Spring and Fall. The measured and proven pitfalls of moving the clocks back in the fall include include: groginess, higher rates of depression, sleep deprivation, increased traffic and workplace accidents, more heart attacks, a spike in suicides and much more.
Turning the clocks back in the winter is archaic and completely unnecessary. Especially in our region, due to natural topography and given that darkness falls upon us earlier in the Kootenays, most of us will greatly benefit from experiencing that extra hour of much needed daylight in the evenings through the winter months. If we are able to see this to fruition areas like Nelson, on the shortest day in December sunset would be at 4:50pm instead of the current 3:50pm (sunrisesunset.com/canada.)
It's time that the Kootenay region remain on Pacific Daylight Time (Mountain Standard Time) year round. Let's get the ball rolling and make this happen!
