It has been eight months since the collapse of the Komalam bridge in Pathanamthitta district. The bridge, which had been used for traffic for 35 years, was washed away in the flood that occurred last October, along with the road and the site.

People living in places like Maret Thoppu, Komalam, Kubhamala, Turutthikkadu and Ambattubhagam am were more affected by the bridge collapse. These areas were completely isolated. Locals who had to cross the bridge to reach Vennikulam even to buy essential goods were in more trouble. Vennikulam Govt. Polytechnic, Vennikulam SB Higher Secondary School, Thuruttikkad BAM College, Kallooppara IHRD Engineering College and other schools also used the Komalam bridge. People from places like Kallooppara, Puthusserry, Chengaroor, Kunnanthanam etc. have to travel extra kilometers to go to the main treatment centers.

Therefore, we humbly request for you to consider this matter as an emergency, and to take immediate action to rebuild the bridge.
