Becky Jones started this petition to Knoxville (Knox County) Residents

Dear Mayor, you have heard the voices of anger over the last few weeks over the Austin East High School Shooting.  Our hearts go out to the Thompson Family as well as the Staff and Students.  While you have listened to the voices of anger I have heard the voices of concern, the silent majority, the voices of our Officers, their wives, their families as well as citizens of Knoxville.  We have not been at the City County Building demanding answers and our voices were just silenced by you.  We are by disappointed in your leadership, we are disappointed in your lack of care for all of the students you’ve left fearing for their safety, we are disappointed that you gave no voice to the Teachers who now also are in fear of being at their respective schools with no Officer present, and we are disappointed that you allowed the hatred of our Officers by a few dictate the safety of our schools.  You chose politics over the safety of these students.  This petition serves as our voice to say we want The Knoxville Police Department School Resource Officers to remain in place as it’s been and to not pull them effective June 12, 2021.
