Save the BHS Senior Painted Parking lot

Save the BHS Senior Painted Parking lot
Why this petition matters
On August 21, 2020, Bearden High School seniors were given the opportunity to purchase and customize a reserved parking space in the Senior lot. The funds for this exciting and unifying opportunity benefit the BHS Band. After many hours of designing, painting and boosting school spirit, the students were informed today that the Superintendent has “changed his mind” and the parking spots are to be painted over and destroyed.
After only 11 days, these students are being told that their time, money, school spirit and commitments do not matter. They signed agreements to follow the rules set forth for this project and are being let down by the powers that be, who have decided NOT to honor their side of the agreement. It is unacceptable and throughly disrespectful.
This beautiful addition to the Senior parking lot NEEDS TO STAY AS IT IS. Please sign below and let’s stand up for what is right. These parking spots are not hurting anyone and they have not cost the school any money. On the contrary, this has been financially beneficial to a great BHS organization (the band boosters). Whether you are one of the seniors who painted a parking spot, a parent of a current or former BHS student, or a community member who believes adults should model appropriate behavior and demonstrate integrity, PLEASE rally behind these students and the core principles of honoring agreements made and doing what is right.
