It is unacceptable to expect parents to foot the bill for the before school care to accommodate the later hours when we were not even given a say in the matter. I work in Bluffton and my husband works in Savannah, and we both start at 8:00am. So now we either leave small children alone to fend for themselves, which obviously is not an option, or pay more money to the BCS. Since YOU are changing the time, then YOU should be offering before care for no charge. It's bad enough our small children won't be home from school until nearly 5pm, but you are essentially threatening parents livleyhoods, or extorting more money from them.

Keep it the way it was. Some parents can't afford to pay for morning care. Makes for a long day for small kids who ride the bus.

What happens to the parents who can't afford early care? Did the school board take that into consideration?

I am signing because that is way too late for young children who go to bed early to be getting home. My child was getting home after 4 with the old schedule and that was when we lived in Piercefield, so not far enough for it to have taken over an hour to begin with... This will negatively impact so many children who take longer to do their homework due to learning disabilities. Maybe the parents of learning disabled kids should all modify their kid's IEP to indicate they need to get out earlier or have less homework because those are the only two options. Older kids can start later, Bryan County BoE is doing a MAJOR disservice to every single student in this district by going against proven research showing younger kids need an earlier start and older kids need a later start. The hogwash about after school activities making it "impossible" to start the older kids later is a weak excuse at best.

I'm signing because this will mess up my whole routine in the morning. On my way to work it's easy to drop my daughter off at school and make it to work on time. With this change, it would mess up our routine. Also she wouldn't be getting home until 5pm from the bus. We wouldn't have time for playing and homework plus baths and whatnot. This change would just be very inconvenient.

I am signing because now my elementary school student will need before care. Bryan County Schools has made a decision that is self riotous without thinking of the constituents it serves. Middle and High School students need more rest. Elementary school students need more care. Therefore, you have taken the best think in South Bryan (the schools) and made them a little worse. Good job!

My children are in pre-k and 5th grade and will be riding the bus. I am concerned about the time they will be getting home after school. It's really to late in the day and seems like a long day for them especially for the younger ones. Please change the times back to the way it was

my kids ride the bus they get home already a hour after school is out because they ride the bus so now my kids wont get off the bus until 5pm thanks that leaves them no time for homework, play, or dance afterschool or any other sport. and when the time falls back than means my kids will get home at dark this is uncalled for. how about getting rid of cox and getting someone new in to run the buses better and get some drivers that stay.

There is no reason for a 4 year old in PreK to be going to school until 4:00. It is ubsurd. Hire additional bus drivers or force McAllister to go later since it is their existence that is causing the strain. Bus service is a privilege- not a right. Let our small children go to school when they should NOT when a bus driver can deliver them.
