I am a Canadian student in Southern Ontario looking for a change for the 18,000,000 lives of the citizens of Chile who are in fatal danger, caused by corruption of the Chilean military, the ignorance of Chile’s President and their government and the lethal poverty that brings millions to unrest.

For years I have spoken to a wise mother of three named Maria Cortes Pinto, a Canadian citizen who immigrated from Chile as a young adult due to military corruption. She has helped me gather information of Chile’s third world history that she also endured decades ago. We would like to grab the attention of the citizens of Kitchener-Waterloo and Toronto, including surrounding cities.
At this very moment, Chile’s President Sebastian Pinera has brought all authorities of Chile to injustice as police brutality rises at a severe and FATAL rate; as of November 6th, over thirty people have been brutally murdered by the army and police, including a four-year-old boy. Hundreds of women and children have been raped and beat including friends and family of Maria. The country’s behaviour hadn’t broken out this way since the 1980’s and earlier, and now those 18,000,000 people are protesting for increases in minimum wage and access to water. Surrounding countries of Latin America have noticed the government’s police brutality, but no action is being taken as Pinera refuses to resign. The authorities of Chile have begun to dig a deadly whole for the people they are meant to serve, killing off and brutally beating the protestors who publicly disagree with the government. These people constantly fight a life or death poverty brawl for the lives of their families and children. The fact that no surrounding country or counsel has taken action is outrageous and unacceptable; if this were happening in North America, the home of two large international countries, action would certainly be taken by surrounding countries for the sake of Canadian, American and Mexican lives. If we were watching this on TV, we’d stare in awe and send meaningful prayers, but barely anyone knows because Chile will not publicize the army’s crimes in the news. No family deserves this type of terror and brutality. No family deserves loss and injustice by the ones who serve them.

On Thursday, November 7th 2019 we are gathering at Waterloo Town Square in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario to raise awareness to Justin Trudeau and surrounding parties in the House of Commons to hopefully bring justice to Pinera and the military of Chile. We invite advocates and speakers from Laurier University, the University of Waterloo, Conestoga College, St. Louis Campus, the University of Guelph, the University of Toronto and surrounding high schools and post-secondary schools to join our peaceful protest. Please sign our petition and share the link to your friends, family and social medias. We need the government of Chile to change.
