Stop any development at White Lee Field, West Yorkshire
0 have signed. Let’s get to 5,000!
We, the undersigned, call on Kirklees Council to do everything in it's power to protect White Lee Field from inappropriate development and uphold its status as Urban Greenspace as identified on the current Local Development Framework Plan and as is proposed on the yet to be agreed Local Plan.
If Kirklees consider an application to build 200 houses on the field at Field Head Farm it would cause further traffic chaos, add to the existing problems with shortages of preschool and school places, place further strain on our local hospital which is in the process of being significantly downgraded, exacerbate the potential for flooding by removing natural soakage, stretch sewerage systems to their limits and beyond, destroy much loved fields and hedgerows and blight White Lee with urban sprawl and overcrowding.
This field is a much utilised, much loved part of our community and gives local people somewhere to go to enjoy the countryside regardless of any socioeconomic inequalities. Urban green spaces provide pleasant areas to relax and socialise, promoting greater levels of social activity and stronger neighbourhood relationships. The local infrastructure is not capable of coping with this new development.
Kirklees Council must insist that brownfield sites and small sites that benefit rural settlements are built first before even considering the destruction of our last remaining field on White Lee.
Please sign our petition and protect our greenspace.
