Permission to keep a pet squirrel

Baby the squirrel was found 12 months ago at the side of her dead mother, I thought the squirrel was dead but with warmth, food, and lots of love and attention she survived. Baby the squirrel is no longer a wild animal, she likes nothing more than having her tummy tickled and enjoys playtime in her large enclosure. Kirklees council have decided that I can't keep the squirrel even though I have a licence from Natural England. it is illegal to release a grey squirrel back into the wild, even if it was baby would never survive as she is not afraid of humans or dogs. there is a great possibility that baby would be put to sleep if I couldn't keep her. That would be cruelty at its best as this little sweetheart can do no damage or harm to anyone. She has a large enclosure and lacks nothing, especially a full tummy and lots of love and attention..
