Fitness Industry of Karnataka along with other states of India is in deep trouble due to COVID-19 outbreak. Businesses around the world are shut down and all its employees are unclear about their future. Fitness industry has a very diverse businesses which includes Gyms (small, medium, big), Group class studios, Aerobics studios, Dance studios, Personal training studios, Bodybuilding organizations, Fitness academy, Fitness institutions, Freelancers, Fitness equipment manufacturers,  Fitness equipment dealers, Supplement stores, Online aggregators, Fitness app (Workout app – Activity tracker app), Fitness CRM & Software companies, Dietitians and Physiotherapists associated to this sector and few more. Presently the whole of Fitness industry does not fall under any specific sector in India making it a challenge to have it more organized. With approximately 8,000+ big, medium, small gyms and studios along with many other fitness businesses, the employment could be anywhere between 80 Thousand to 1 Lakh in Karnataka alone!

These businesses contributed in overall health and fitness for lakhs of people. Now in return the small, medium size fitness businesses and their employees are hugely affected with the COVID-19 outbreak. We request our government to support these businesses and thousands of employees.

These below mentioned points sum up our requests;

1. Support Fitness Professionals: Thousands of professional staff and support staff need financial assistance so they can afford basic essentials during the period of lockdown. Hence we request Government to provide Instant Interest Free Loans or Aid under FITINDIA scheme or any other alternative which is feasible to the Government.

2. Rent Relaxation: The major cost for the businesses is the rent. We seek Government intervention as it would be difficult to convince the landlords for delayed/discounted rent payments. If this is not addressed, many businesses would cease to exist and this in-turn leads unemployment of thousands of fitness professionals and support staff. Hence the policies should be set by the Government for rent waiver or discount it.

3. Loan and Interest Payment Relief: Finance ministry with the help of a consortium of banks should also consider postponement of debt/interest repayment, post lockdown for at-least three months
