Say “NO” to Roupell House

We, the undersigned, as residents of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, ask that the Councillors of the Development Control Committee reject the application for the development of 23 new homes on the site known as Roupell House.

We welcome the Council’s desire to develop new council-owned homes but this proposal fails to respect the existing neighbourhood as a result of its unsuitable height and massing (made worse by the last minute changes) and does not deliver either social rent council homes or much needed family accommodation.

Another 16 council sites have been identified for development so this will set a dangerous precedent in local residential areas.

There has also been a lack of listening to local residents, nor an understanding of the local community.

Roupell House is a council-owned site and something that everyone should be proud of, but it should reflect the buildings nearby and respect the neighbourhood it will serve.
