Save The Fishponds Park in Surbiton

The Fishponds are slowly dying. In 2008, the Council granted Thames Water permission to carry out repairs. The contract was botched and the water stopped flowing. Stagnant waters in the popular Berrylands park have killed the fish and wild fowl have left. There are broken drains and regular floods. Getting the water to flow again in the ponds and streams should revitalise the park and bring back the wildlife. The Council must take responsibility for its past mistakes.

The Surbiton Branch of the Labour Party demands that Kingston Council invest in a professional engineering project to repair the Fishponds water pumps. Kingston Council must then allocate funds to maintain a healthy wildlife environment thereafter.

We, the undersigned, support this demand.
