Friends of Sir John A. started this petition to Kingston City Council

Across Canada, people have been spreading misinformation about Sir John A. Macdonald, attributing historical travesties which occurred long after he was dead.

The stampede to woke cancel culture has caused Canadians to believe anything and everything they hear or read, and judge it harshly through the lens of presentism.  The truth is that Sir John A. was criticized at the time for being TOO progressive!

Sir John A. Macdonald was one of Canada's founding fathers.  He was the first prime minister of Canada.  He was the man who built the railroad that connects Canadians from coast to coast and he was Kingston's native son.  (See www.KingstonsNativeSon.ca )

We need to cancel misinformation, not cancel history.  We need to celebrate Canada, not tear it down.  Kingstonians should rise up against this injustice and be the thought leaders and champions of history on this important aspect of Canada's past.

Please sign this petition to tell Kingston City Council that you believe the statue of Sir John A. Macdonald should be returned to its rightful place in City Park where it stood for 126 years.
