Kelly Bentley started this petition to King David High School Govenors

King David have a policy whereby if a child is caught using a mobile phone during the school day the phone is confiscated for 2 weeks on the proviso it’s the first offence. For second or third offences the punishments are much longer. King David have the most extreme punishment and a zero tolerance policy.

Official guidelines regarding confiscation of phones at schools are blurry but having investigated into other high school policies, there isn’t one school that keeps phones over weekends.

Whilst children need to abide by school rules, phones not being returned outside school hours especially at weekends causes problems and stress for parents unable to keep in contact with children or vice versa.

We are asking the school governors to reconsider the draconian rules and allow the confiscated phones to be returned as a minimum at weekends and preferably over night as well.

Children who are on confiscation punishment should hand over phones when they arrive to school in the morning then have them returned at the end of the school day.

The Governors of King David who sanctioned these rules are not accountable for the safety of our children out of school hours, we as parents are.

I sign in support of the above petition
