I am a Geography teacher tired of simply telling students there world is about to become really difficult to live in due to the acceleration of climate changes. when I’m asked why aren’t we doing anything about it, I only have a handful of responses to offer them as solutions ranging from local actions to national and global scale solutions. All of which pale into insignificance as extreme weather events hit the news on what now seems like a weekly basis. 
So for our current unelected Prime Minister to advise the only person outside of David Attenborough with the gravitas, expertise and global standing not to speak at such an event is reckless and naive.

Action is needed if we and the generations coming behind us are all to enjoy a ‘normal life’ .

This is why I strongly believe there are times in history when we have to stand and move forwards as a nation with the best ambassadors we have at this time. King Charles just happens to be that individual and therefore should not be stopped from speaking at what must be the last opportunity to address a global audience on the matter of global climate crisis.
