Kindergarten Snacks

Kindergarten Snacks
Why this petition matters
It has come to the attention of the parents of the Lampeter-Strasburg community that snack time for elementary school students has ceased this year, most specifically and unfortunately for our sweet, newly arriving kindergarteners. This petition is organized to ask the school to reconsider the depletion of snack time and bring it back to our youngsters.
There are an abundant amount of reasons why snack is so important in our school systems. Hunger can be a nagging distraction in our children’s world of focus. It’s best in a learning environment to keep hunger and most associated with adolescent hunger, mood swings, at bay. Not all children have the appetite, the availability of food, or the opportunity to eat a large breakfast in the morning before school, which is why a small snack would be vital in keeping them engaged. Snacks are important for health, social skills, and allowing children to learn at optimal levels. Snacks prevent our children from overeating during lunchtime when they’re not offered a time that’s convenient to each child’s pace. It gives our children something to look forward to, whether that be engaging with other students while filling up on nutrients, or enjoying the bite itself.
For those that are agreeable to allow our children to have snack time in school whether that be the following: bring their own snack, have one provided to them, or allow parents to donate packaged snacks, please enlighten us by signing this petition. Please allow parents to be of any and all help to resolve this matter and allow our children to experience the same allowances that all of those before them have experienced without conflict. Thank you.
