Cienega High School among many other high schools has taken a common approach to the current health crisis the world is facing right now. That being, offering a virtual graduation ceremony, as well as a drive-thru style means of handing out diplomas to the class of 2020.

While this is completely understandable, I and many others believe that this is completely unjust to these hard-working students.

For their entire schooling career, they have been promised a magnificent graduation ceremony, just like everyone else is. They have put in countless hours and cultivated countless deep relationships with the school, the staff, and the fellow students, and there is nothing more anticipated than the celebration of graduation that all these people deserve to share.

While I applaud the school and school district for making wonderful and heartwarming accommodations around this stay at home order, I believe that the class of 2020 DESERVES THEIR GRADUATION. And nothing short of what the word graduation is truly meant to encompass. What celebration, and togetherness, are truly meant to encompass.

And so, I ask of you, to band together as a community as you have for so many amazing causes, and do the class of 2020 justice. Justice, and nothing short of justice.
