Why this petition matters
Started by The Killingworth Krier Committee
- In an effort to effectively communicate to all town residents and businesses, the Killingworth Krier has been delivering local news, events, business highlights and important information from Town Hall for 30 years. The Krier remains the only all-Killingworth publication with a strong emphasis on what makes Killingworth unique.
- The Krier is funded by advertising from local businesses and Not-for-Profit Service Organizations, however due to cost pressures and the impact of COVID, available advertising dollars from local businesses have declined significantly.
- For decades the Krier has been printing multiple pages of Town Hall information in the Krier for "free" . To continue to operate, it is evident that the space dedicated to organizations like Town Hall pay their fair share for the pages printed.
- The request was to create a line item in the Town Budget designated as "Town Communications" for the purpose of allocating funds to support the town's Website, printed publications and Town Hall Social Media platforms. The request for $5,400 for the purpose of Town Hall paying for their space in the Krier was voted down by the Selectman's Office 2 to 1 in January.
- By signing this petition you are in support of keeping the Krier viable and wish that a "Town Communications" line item be added to the town budget where adequate funds are applied to ensure that publications and digital platforms remain viable and sustainable.
