Petition to Banned No Knock Warrants for The City of Killeen
Whereas, the undersigned residents and registered voters of Killeen, Texas in the County of Bell Texas. We hereby petitioning that “No-Knock Warrants” be banned. No-Knock Warrants are inherently dangerous and an infringement on the rights of citizens. Since 2013, there’s been multiple deaths and injuries in Killeen directly related to the use of No-Knock Warrants. According to Texas Law Article 15.24; no greater force should be use other than what is necessary for the arrest. A person’s Second Amendment Rights should not be violated just because law enforcement wants to quickly close in on a alleged-drug case without sufficient evidence.
Whereas, No-Knock Warrants are too risky, usually the suspects pays the price, there is no accountability for the courts and officers whenever something goes wrong, the tax payers foot the bill when something goes wrong, it puts officers, alleged suspects, and innocent citizens in harms way, it is an infringement to citizens rights, and it exacerbates an already aggressive situation.
Therefore, the undersigned citizens of Killeen, has obtained the required signatures requested within Killeen City Charter Section 101, and are requesting that No-Knock Warrants be placed on the ballot as a referendum for the citizens of Killeen to vote on as prescribed in Killeen City Charter Section 108.
