Fabian Gaspari started this petition to Kilkenny County Council

The small neighborhood of Francis MacManus Square is specifically for elderly and disabled residents.

The neighborhood is often overlooked for safety concerns as it is seen primarily as a Cul De Sac when in actuality it is a main thoroughfare with very heavy foot-traffic.

The laneway is a major route through the heart of the town from John's green to the lady desert bridge and is frequented by many and numbers increase tenfold during any event.

The area becomes a hotbed for antisocial behaviour because it is hidden away from the main roads.

Such instances have included:

*Assaults

*Public Sex

*Public Drinking

*Vandalism/Graffiti

*Harassment

*Theft

*Indecent exposure

*Public urination

*Illegal dumping

*Breaking and entering/burglary

*Eggs and bottles thrown at the houses.

Stand out cases:

The area also was a key location during a murder investigation but Gardai had no eye witnesses or CCTV to check

During the teenage disco at a premises close by numbers of 40 teenagers accumulate on the neighborhood and lane to drink hidden from security.

A major fight between multiple people occured for over an hour outside one homes doorstep but residents were too afraid to call Gardai if this happened on John Street for example it would be monitored on CCTV and a squad car dispatched

The elderly and disabled residents live in constant fear and never know what is going to happen next espically that they cannot defend for themselves.

If any area in Kilkenny is a priority for CCTV it's Francis MacManus Square please consider our neighborhood.

Thank you
