Hold derelict property owners accountable for sites beside N7 Naas North
Why this petition matters
The former Cemex and Donnelly Mirror sites beside the N7 and Dublin Road in Naas must be demolished and repurposed immediately.
If homeowners or other business owners left a property like this we would be subject to fines and legal prosecution.
These sites are eyesores, a waste of excellent land in terms of their location in such an otherwise vibrant area and they are a public safety hazard. Anyone who passes them with any regularity has seen people walking around the properties and these people are putting themselves at risk not only because they are unsafe but because they are not adequately monitored and are prime locations for anti social behaviour.
If Kildare County Council and the government at large doesn’t enforce policies and regulations on derelict properties like this they are going to be liable for incidents that occur there.
The sites are such a horrendous eye sore and reflect so poorly on the residents of this area. We all do our part to look after our homes, estates, schools, businesses and neighbourhoods but the owners of these properties are not held accountable at all and haven’t been for years and years.
It is well beyond the time when something should be done.
We call on Kildare County Council to take action now.
