Let’s Change The Bailey Bridge Dress Code Policy.
Let’s Change The Bailey Bridge Dress Code Policy.
We women are being labeled as distractions. There are rules that are put in place to limit our freedom of expression. Teachers are watching for us to wear a tank top so they have the pleasure of taking us out of our learning time to tell us to wait in the office for a change of clothes. Why should we have to suffer in the heat so boys aren’t distracted by our legs, shoulders, and our stomach? Who has ever said reveling clothes was distracting a person from doing their work? Administrators and the School Board think this because of what they were told as children. This dress code is making us women feel bad about our bodies. We can’t control our bodies and we shouldn’t have to look harder in stores to make sure it’s “school appropriate”. You can tell if something is inappropriate where the chest or bottom area is showing. Bigger girls wear skirts and shorts that go down to the knee but because of their body type it slides up a little. It can be the end of the day or the first day of school not knowing the dress code, and yet teachers and administrators take the time to get us in trouble for a couple of inches. Instead of shaming women for their body types, teach men to respect girls and not to use them for their amusement. Clothes today for young teenage women are mostly crop tops and ripped jeans for men. Thighs should not have to be hidden because of men. Shoulders should not be covered because of men. Men also should not have to be dress coded because of their legs. This dress code is targeting EVERYONE not just women. It is outdated and is not lining up with most of the clothes today. It is a fact that we have to accept to move forward. Minors are being sexualized and have had uncomfortable experiences with this issue. Women, men, and everyone should be able to express their selves in whatever clothes desired unless it has inappropriate content or shows inappropriate nudity.
