It's clear we need a Mayor

To stop this rot of an affair

We suffer taxation without representation

and the bridge between us and 'them' causes vexation

Bridges need mending; a particular bridge needs fixing

If not, this vexation will stimulate greater aggravation

And we'll all begin to really wonder whether it is worth it

For 'them' to still be in legitimate charge of greater exasperation

Enough; we're crying for the broom to sweep in

New blood to help us overcome this tiresome cohort of grey

We need Alan to be in the van of our fight and be led, defeat and win

Against the whim of those that whip us till we're past participle of flay

A hearty Hale will unite the hoi polloi and lift the veil

Expose the weakness of 'them' to ensure we avail

And remove our Lordship's collar

To place that Livery Collar of fealty on Alan in our honour
