Good Morning Call for the Elderly in Aberdeen

In Glasgow and surrounding areas they have The Good Morning Service, this is a service that contacts people daily to ensure all is well, they also provide a call in the evening if required, especially in the Winter months. If the person doesn't answer, they then call a nominated person or the emergency services. This is a free service provided by The Good Morning Charity. Many elderly people remain independent with personal care and meal provision their entire lives meaning they never meet the criteria for sheltered housing or care at home, this may be the only person they speak to the entire day. We used to have a similar service in Aberdeen, my Grandad used it, they alerted us when he didn't answer his call, sadly we found he had passed away, but he could have lain another couple of days as we had all been to see him as usual on the Sunday the day before. The charity would like to see the service rolled out to the whole of Scotland before 2019, let Aberdeen be next, show you care about the elderly, it may be you some day!
