Tausha Williams started this petition to Representative Kevin McCarthy and

I want there to be a higher standard of care for diabetic patients. The nursing staff and doctors need to be educated on how to care for these people. The number of preventable deaths of diabetic patients in the US due to lack of care or knowledge is astounding. These people could be saved with a juice box or a spoonful of honey. Their sugar levels need to be monitored at least hourly if they are known to have low sugars.

The reason that I am so passionate about this is because my best friend Blaine died of a low blood sugar while she was in the hospital. The hospital is supposed to be the safest place for us when we are sick because there are trained medical professionals just in case anything goes wrong. But that is not the case. The doctors will up the insulin and then the nurses don't go check on the patients to make sure they are ok throughout the night. My friend was not ready to die. She was 34 years old and faught everyday just to stay alive.

The medical professionals and hospitals that they work for will not be held accountable and no change will be made unless we all work together to make a change. No amount of money will bring my friend back and that is all that will come of a court case. Please sign this petition to be the change.
