Hutto Planning and Zoning Commission has heard a request from the developer regarding Star Ranch Section 7 to rezone the 222.4 acres into 354 residential lots, two townhome lots and two condominium lots. Section 7 does not appear to be close to 222 acres and has no townhomes or condominiums in the plan.
The original plan and zoning for this area was as Parcel 21: Single Family/Village Homes and Parcel 22: Estate Homes. These were located across from Parcel 25 - an elementary school, which has already been altered and removed from the development.
This is another significant change from the master plan that has a significant impact on all the homeowners who have invested and bought into this community. Continuous and significant changes to the master plan impacts all of us and leaves one with the feeling like they bought into a lie. A home purchase in this community may not have taken place if the plan to make such changes was forthright.
This change places a significant number of apartments and lower cost homes into an area and entirely changes the atmosphere of what was bought into. This plan was set for larger estate homes and a school - the school has gone away and now they are looking to maximize the space by filling it with townhouses and condominiums. This is not the plan I was sold on.
