This bill will help increase efficiency of power generation, promote research and development in renewable/alternative forms of energy, and reduce CO2 emissions. At our current CO2 levels, over 400 parts per million in the atmosphere, global temperatures will continue to rise. This could be incredibly detrimental to our Great Lakes. With rising temperatures, not as much ice will form over the lakes or not even form at all. This will allow the lakes to evaporate over a greater amount of time than they usually do and it will drive water levels down. This will lower the value of water front property, impact tourism, and will affect the water shed (where we get well and ground water) adversely affecting wet lands as well. We want to pass a bill that will implement a tax primarily on the CO2, created by energy generated. Tax rate will start at $5 for every ton of CO2 generated and increase $5 every year CO2 levels are not reduced by 25% as of Jan 1st 2019 CO2 levels.
