Stop The Closure of the Four Courts Public Restaurant & Bar

Our fight is long from over! We've had a Public Restaurant (and Bar) facility in the Four Courts for 65 years and it's absolutely essential that it's there - the only Public Restaurant in the country's biggest court complex - for many reasons well documented by now. At this stage we don't care who runs it - but we want the staff we know and love to be able to keep working there. But the premises will be gutted and handed over to State bureaucrats for their offices by October 1st - unless we act now. There is already huge opposition to this but we must keep it going.

If Aramark Ireland is determined to pull out of the Four Courts then that's fine: this petition is not about whatever 'done deal' has been reached between Aramark and the OPW. This petition is about ensuring that the Four Courts has a Public Restaurant facility going into the future - as opposed to new OFFICES for the Courts Service - and we are petitioning Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan to ensure that the public are prioritised over yet more facilities for bureaucrats (Brendan Ryan, CEO of the Courts Service, told the Irish Times, 26/7/18, that there is "great demand for office space within the complex and any additional space would be welcome.") First, the premises will have to finally be refurbished by the State after years of neglect. And if a new operator must be brought in to run the restaurant, replacing Aramark, then the current staff must be entitled to keep working there.
