LISSELTON QUARRY OVER 6300 HGV JOURNEYS THROUGH LISSELTON EACH YEAR ONE HGV EVERY 12 MIN
Please support our petition and object to this proposed commercial operation in North Kerry. Planning number (21/1199).
This planning Application has been refused by “Kerry County Council” on numerous occasions and has also been refused by “An Board Pleanala “ . The reasons stated. (A).The HGV traffic generated by the proposed development would present traffic capacity problems and Road safety risks for all road users in the surrounding areas” (B).“The discharges from the quarry would seriously injure the environment, biodiversity ,water quality and natural heritage of the area”.(C). The environmental pollution and nuisance caused in relation to dust noise and vibration levels generated by blasting.”The proposed development would seriously injure the amenities of residential properties in the vicinity”.
Boland’s quarry have operated this site providing an important service to local farmers and builders ,We support these activity’s and understand the importance of the service provided by Boland‘s quarry.
“Mc Sweeney Bros”.Quarries are a Cork based company and currently purchase quarried stone from our local quarries in Kerry. The decision to apply for planning permission to operate this quarry is purely a commercial decision to reduce their costs and increase their profits undercutting Kerrys established quarry operators.”
Make no mistake, if this planning application was ever to be successful it will affect you, your family and especially our young children. HGV Traffic six days a week would make our roads unsafe for our children to walk and cycle ,unsafe for Leisurely strolls, unsafe for jogging. Silica dust from blasting will travel on winds not only to local properties and farmlands but to the wider community. The dust from this quarry is 70% silica, silica dust is a very fine dust and highly dangerous known to cause cancer, Respiratory disease and autoimmune diseases.
Please consider this statement ,take a look at the planning application (21/1199) and make an informed decision on a development that could affect our community for years to come.
Thank you for reading.
Regards ,
The Residents Committee.
