Robert Enright started this petition to Stephen Curry

Dear Mr. Stephen Curry,

I have been a fan of you as a basketball player since I was in junior high school and you were in college.  Like you, I suffer from keratoconus and I struggled with my vision before it was treated.  I was rather disappointed to see you laugh at the prospect of having a disease.

Keratoconus is a disease.  Keratoconus sometimes requires extensive treatment.  For some people it is extremely debilitating, but for many, after treatment, it has a minimal impact on their daily lives.  Many people live with keratoconus, but still pursue and achieve their life aspirations despite this disease.  As you well know, your position gives you a platform of influence that few in the world ever achieve.  Accordingly, over the last several days, many keratoconus patients have seen their life experience mocked and laughed at in the national media because of your response to a reporter’s question.

We ask that when you speak about your eye condition in the future, you do so in a way that is honest about keratoconus as a treatable disease and mindful of the many keratoconus patients who do not share your ability to be public communicators or advocates.

Sincerely,

Robert N. Enright, on behalf of Keratoconus patients and their friends, relatives and medical professionals who signed below
