Musée, espace d'art et de création dédié à la céramique, Keramis a ouvert ses portes en 2015 sur le site de l'ancienne faïencerie Boch à La Louvière. Érigé par la Wallonie à la demande de la Fédération Wallonie Bruxelles, il valorise une collection publique de plus de 7000 œuvres, des premières pièces sorties de la manufacture louviéroise aux créations d’artistes contemporains majeurs comme Johan Creten, Françoise Pétrovitch ou Marc Alberghina. Son architecture, contemporaine et audacieuse, englobe un édifice ancien classé qui contient trois fours-bouteilles géants, les derniers témoins du riche passé faïencier de la Belgique. La programmation de Keramis est originale puisqu’elle allie patrimoine et création contemporaine en accueillant des expositions d’artistes émergeants ou confirmés. Au fil des années, l’institution s’est imposée comme référence nationale de centre spécifiquement dédié à la céramique et jouit d’une reconnaissance internationale (Europe, États-Unis, Chine, Japon…). Aujourd'hui, la question de son avenir se pose. L’institution est à ce point sous-financée que son fonctionnement quotidien et sa programmation riche et exploratoire sont réellement menacés. Madame la Ministre, votre responsabilité dans le fonctionnement de l’institution est engagée. Au nom de l’association des Amis de Keramis, nous vous demandons son refinancement d’urgence. ___ Museum, kunsten- en creatieruimte gewijd aan keramiek, Keramis opende haar deuren in 2015 op de site van het oude faïence-fabriek Boch in La Louvière. Opgericht door Wallonië op verzoek van de Federatie Wallonië-Brussel, bevordert het een openbare collectie van meer dan 7 000 werken van de eerste delen van de Manufacture van La Louvière aan belangrijke hedendaagse kunstenaars als Johan Creten, Françoise Pétrovitch en Marc Alberghina. De hedendaagse en gedurfde architectuur omvat een oud geklasseerd gebouw dat drie gigantische flessenvormige bevat, de laatste Belgische exemplaren van dit type. De programmering van Keramis is origineel omdat het erfgoed en hedendaagse creatie combineert door tentoonstellingen van opkomende of bevestigde kunstenaars te organiseren. Door de jaren heen heeft de instelling zich gevestigd als een nationaal referentiecentrum dat specifiek is toegewijd aan keramiek en geniet van internationale erkenning (Europa, Verenigde Staten, China, Japan...). Tegenwoordig rijst de vraag van de toekomst. De instelling is zo ondergefinancierd dat haar dagelijkse activiteiten en rijke verkennende programmering echt worden bedreigd. Mevrouw de Minister, uw verantwoordelijkheid bij de leiding van de instelling is geëngageerd. Namens de vereniging Les Amis de Keramis vragen wij u om haar noodherfinanciering. ___ Keramis is not only a museum but also an art and a creation workspace dedicated to ceramics. Located on the former Boch earthenware site, it was eventually open to the public in 2015. Established by Wallonia on Federation Wallonia-Brussels request, the museum preserves a public heritage of more than 7000 works: including the first pieces manufactured by La Louviere factory and major contemporary works of artists such as Johan Creten, Francoise Petrovitch or Marc Alberghina. Contemporary and bold, the architecture embraces a listed historical building containing three giant bottle kilns, representing the last samples of Belgium rich earthenware history. Keramis programing is unique as it includes artifacts and contemporary creation represented through emerging or experienced artists' exhibitions. Through the years, the museum has gained international recognition as a ceramics center, whether in Europe, the United States, China or Japan. Now its future is in dispute. The institution is underfunded and its daily activities as well as its rich program are threatened. Madam Minister, your responsibility regarding the museum activities, is on the line.
