I was born in 1988 in a small town called Mumias. My late father used to work with Mumias Sugar Company which was one of the largest sugar manufacturing companies in East Africa. The company did so well until a few years back when some individuals dimmed it fit to steal or mismanage the company's funds which brought it to its knees.Year after year the situation worsened and as at now, employees haven't been paid for about six months. These are people with families. We are not talking about hundreds but thousands of people who are on a payroll with loans and school fees to pay not forgetting putting food on the table.Farmers have ceased growing sugarcane and have opted for maize. This giant factory will go down completely like Webuye pan paper if nothing is done as soon as possible.Kenya needs Mumias Sugar Company.
