Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin should use his executive powers to “pardon my Pappy” and stop the execution of 28 bottles of Pappy Van Winkle.

The Bourbon Babe, as bourbon journalist and blogger Carla Carlton is widely known, sent a letter to then Gov. Steve Beshear in 2015 asking for his help to prevent the planned destruction of much of the bourbon found by law enforcement officials who cracked an organized crime ring last spring.

“Pardon my Pappy. He’s too young to die,” Carlton wrote. “There’s no proof he did anything wrong. But they say they’re going to spill his glorious spirit on the cold hard ground – all because he got caught up with the wrong crowd.”

The Bourbon Babe also launched a social media campaign, asking bourbon fans to show their support by using the hashtag #PardonMyPappy on Facebook and Twitter.

Gov. Beshear has left office, but the Pappy remains in jeopardy.
