Ella V started this petition to KENT SCHOOLS

On average, schools produce 4.4 pounds of solid waste each day. Take that and put it into perspective over the course of a year. That's about 1606 pounds of waste a year per school.

Another factor is the plastic spoons used. An estimated 40 billion plastic utensils are produced every year. Plus, they are hardly ever reused or recycled, so they make up most of our landfills.

A school in Minnesota changed to reusable utensils and will save a grand total of $23,000 over the next three years after they switched. They prevented 6,712 pounds of waste.

It's time to take action because our climate is declining and our waste production is not helping the earth's worsening conditions. We have 11 years before our mark of filth makes the changes irreversible.

Not only will changing our schools help reduce this, even if by a small bit, but it will guarantee the children a better future, one without the hideous threat of absolute devastation.
