Let’s fix aged care NOW!

After the revelations of elder abuse and neglect at Opal Care facilities on ABC 7.30 Report, it is time to start fixing aged care:

7.30 Report, part 1, families telling stories about Opal Care:

We call on the Minister, Ken Wyatt, to listen to more varied voices to find solutions.

In particular, we call on Mr Wyatt to stand down Opal Managing Director, Gary Barnier, from all advisory governmental committees and consult genuine representatives of aged care residents and relatives instead.

7.30 Report, part 2, How did Opal stay accredited by the Quality Agency?

For Opal to continue to participate in aged care policy making is simply an insult to all those frail aged Australians and their families who have suffered unnecessarily.

Minister, please show your real compassion and let’s work together to get aged care right!

Our elders deserve it!
