On Sunday, December 06, 2020, a video surfaced online through Twitter.com revealing an Oregon State Educator telling a woman to kill herself. On Monday, December 07, 2020, it was reported that Jefferson County Schools superintendent, Ken Parshall has placed the Oregon educator on “leave” as they investigate this situation.  As a national advocate and an Emergency Services EMT & Paramedic at Portland Community College, located in Portland, Oregon - I am DEMANDING ACTION be taken immediately.  
According to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention approximately 1.4 million people attempted suicide in America in 2018.  Approximately, 48, 344 people died of suicide in that year also. Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in America.  Although, suicide is common for older white men, the rate of suicide in children is on the rise. In 2017, suicide was actually the second leading cause in young Americans ranging in ages15 -24.  This is based on other students not reported by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. 
As a national advocate and a future first responder working as an EMT & Paramedic,  I am demanding that you voice your concerns to the superintendent of Jefferson County Schools and also to Oregon State Governor Kate Brown. We cannot allow anyone who encourages suicide to be permitted to teach. The future is in our hands. If we want to make it better then we need to begin with enforcing only the best educators and stand against those who will mislead and discourage the future generation.  Please sign this petition and hold this teacher accountable for her inexcusable actions.
