Save Our Skies - Say No to Commercial Pilot Training in Kempsey

Australian International Aviation College wants to increase it's training flights from the current traffic movements at Kempsey airport which are in the vicinity of around 2868 movements per year,

between 22950 movements (8000 day & 4950 night) to 28687 movements (22500 day & 6187 night)) per calendar year in 2018.

We, the undersigned, demand that Kempsey Shire Council listen to the community it serves and withdraw its support for the proposed expansion of pilot training operations over the Macleay Valley by the Australian International Aviation College.

The dubious economic benefits of this offensive industry to Kempsey are far outweighed by:

  • Noise - impacts on residential amenity, property values, health, schools, aged care facilities, recreation and tourism
  • Pollution - risk to Macleay Food Bowl & Organic Farming quality & reputation
  • Safety - risk of aircraft crash in residential area (e.g. PMQ 9/2017) & fuel transportation
