Amend City bylaw restricting RV weight on private property

The City of Kelowna Bylaw (Bylaw 8000, Section 4.3.7 article (b)) restricts the weight of a single recreational vehicle on private property to 5500kg licensed weight. As evidenced by a drive through the city's residential areas, more and more people are purchasing larger units to enjoy the many aspects of RVing. The old weight restriction no longer reflects current RV ownership or needs. People want, and should be able, to have their valuable purchase on their private property not only to be able to access the unit but to ensure its protection from theft or vandalism.
We, the undersigned request that the bylaw be amended to reflect current ownership in Kelowna and eliminate the weight restriction of a recreational vehicle parked on private residential property.
