Willowcove Neighborhood to Remain at Valley Ridge Academy

We feel that the school board should look at other solutions which would allow Willowcove to remain at Valley Ridge Academy, a school that the neighborhood was extremely instrumental in opening just four years ago, versus being rezoned to School "KK".
New schools are open with very little resources: NO library books, NO instruments, VERY limited playground equipment with limited shade structures, NO funding for sports, clubs and after-school activities....all students of all grade levels will be impacted.
Willowcove will be rezoned from a school that they truly helped build through book donations, instrument donations, financial donations, and large amount of volunteer hours, etc...and will be called upon to do it ALL again at "KK" vs build upon the momentum at VRA.
The rezoning of Willowcove will not cure the over enrollment issue facing VRA. The projected student population without Willowcove students for VRA will be at 1427 students within a year for a building that has the permanent capacity of 1159. Nor will the rezoning mean that Willowcove students will be attending a school below its permanent capacity, "KK" will be over capacity within the same time period.
If you don't live in Willowcove, why should you sign?
1. Willowcove was 55% of the VRA PTO Membership base last year.
2. Willowcove students are needed to fill out team and club rosters.
3. Willowcove is a major part of VRA history & community.
We would like the St Johns County School Board to consider keeping Willowcove at Valley Ridge.
