Keep Keller Home of the Indians

This petition had 232 supporters

People have recently been taking offense and calling Keller high schools mascot racist. They're trying to change something that has been an important representation of the town of Keller for over 75 years. Our mascot doesn't represent a race, It represents an attitude. Indians are known for being strong, corageous and for fighting for what they want and that's how we want students at Keller to be too. The Indian is more of a role model rather than a mascot. Blaming a "mascot" for racism that's "taught in school" is asinine. Students and Faculty at Keller High School are aware of the injustices Native American's ancestors faced and we dont want to diminish that, but the past is in the past and This newly created division between Keller high school and Native Americans, is only making unity harder. Our mascot wasn't seen as racist until some social justice warriors wanted to victimize themselves and turn nothing into something.
