Why this petition matters

Started by Megan Brown

The City of Winter Park says that Denning Park (aka Castle Park) needs to be renovated. They told me they want to put 500,000 toward making it a bigger and better park. Let’s show the city that the residents of Winter Park want to retain the character and style of the park in the remodel. We want to see wooden building materials and a similar castle design to the original. (Definitely not a redo of what happened at Phelps Park where key features that people loved were lost forever).

There is a park in Volusia County called Magic Forest Playground. It is a wooden castle park that is enormous and captures the same energy as our Denning Park, only bigger and even more fun. The wood is treated for long term durability. It would be a great model for our new park. I spoke with the city about this park and they seemed receptive to speaking with the Ormond Beach parks dept to see how they maintain Magic Forest. You can see this park on YouTube. Please leave a comment with your signature if you would like them to use that big budget to bring even more magic to the castle park in the renovation. Magic Forest also already has had accessible features since the 90s, so using that park’s layout as a guideline would truly please everyone.

Thank you for your support and participation!
