Aberdeen City Council has proposed the idea of moving the historic Wahlen Field from its current location, north, to the church ball field. The main reason is to sell Wahlen Field into lots for housing. Wahlen field was donated to the Legion 70 years ago by Ferris Wahlen for sports and youth activities only. The Legion did not have the resources to maintain it so they donated it to the City of Aberdeen. The church ball field to the north is significantly smaller and will take tens, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars to renovate to Wahlen Field standards.
