Ringette Manitoba has decided to remove the u14AA program to implement a 'high performance developmental' program. This program will set back our athletes, and will be a domino effect that will affect all levels and ringette communities within our province. Keeping u14AA in Manitoba will increase the skill levels of our young athletes moving into older age groups, and will allow for better overall development of all athletes at all levels. We agree that a high performance model should be implemented to increase skill, however we do not believe that cutting the u14AA level is the solution. Ringette Manitoba has failed to include the ringette community in their decision making. In the lack of a plan proposed by Ringette Manitoba, what we propose is a once-a-week, 2hr ice time that will allow for development of our athletes IN ADDITION to continuing to play at the high level of u14AA. The ice time will be discussed/decided to be accessible for any athlete that is interested. Our goal is to keep as many athletes within our ringette program, and grow the sport as best as we can.
