Keep the Rangely Chamber at 255 East Main Street
Keep the Rangely Chamber at 255 East Main Street
Why this petition matters
It has been of recent discussion that the chamber move. The Rangely Area Chamber of Commerce does have a letter of support down at our office, and I have been trying to get around to as many people as possible before next Tuesday. If you would like to sign it, please stop into the chamber, or comment on this post where I can find you to have you sign it. I will be posting the time of the meeting, when I know when it is, all I know of now is that it will be on Tuesday at the county annex building on the 1st floor.
The letter reads as follows:
To the Rio Blanco County Commissioners,
I would like to address if the Chamber should be relocated from the Rio Blanco County Building at 255 E. Main, or if it should stay where it is at. It is absolutely VITAL for the chamber to stay in the building it is currently in, not just a support for our business community but also a resource for tourism and travelers coming through Rangely and Rio Blanco County. The Chamber of Commerce is VITAL to businesses, which has members outside of Rangely to include Meeker, Craig, Grand Junction, and Vernal.
Listed below are just a FEW points of concern the Chamber has if it will have to move from the building it is currently housed in:
• Costs that come with a change of address, brochures, business cards, way-finding signs, advertisements, and our website.
• It has been brought up that the Chamber move to Town Hall. When there is court and certain library events the parking is fairly full, will RV’s, Trailers, and Semis have parking issues and also confusion with where our location and parking are at.
• Will the Veterans Mobile need to be relocated? The Veterans Mobile serves veterans not only in Rangely but also in our surrounding communities which we have been told is more than anywhere else in the state of Colorado.
• The Chamber hosts many different mobile businesses during the year because of our main street location. Will that cease their operation and negatively impact our community and economy?
I ask on behalf of The Rangely Area Chamber of Commerce, to include our entire board, that you consider all angles that this move could negatively impact to our end of the County.
Attached is correspondence with a list of signatures of support on behalf of The Rangely Chamber staying where it is currently located on Main Street.
To be honest, I am a little shocked that this is being undertaken at this critical time for the economy of Rio Blanco County. A time when the economy of oil, gas, and coal is being driven out and eliminated, negatively impacting employment in our entire community. Does this serve the best interest of our community and all the residents you were voted to represent? Perhaps your energy should be directed towards different matters.
