In contrast to the other T stops being cut, well over a hundred people rely on the Kelton stop to travel downtown every day, and their quality of life will change in accordance with the time added to their daily commute.  Some may stop riding the T altogether because of the additional distance and difficult topography required to travel.     Still others have bought their homes in reliance on public transportation being within walking distance, or that their home values would retain their purchase price from the value of being near a T stop.

This is not a backwoods stop with only a handful of riders - this is a well-populated stop where rush hour traffic sees dozens of commuters waiting for a train. The stops bracketing Kelton (Potomac and Dormont) are simply too far of a walk to justify its cut.  The Port Authority would slash this stop from existence with only a 2 week notice period and without any public discourse or community discussion; with no published findings or statistical analysis as to their reasoning for this unilateral and precipitous decision. This petition asks the Port Authority to take the Kelton stop off of their "cut" list.
