We're only four games into the 2022 Major League Baseball season, yet one of the biggest storylines is about next season: the potential ban of the defensive shift. The league claims that banning the shift will increase offense and pace of play, which they hope will increase the game's waning popularity. This is the latest example of MLB courting nonexistent fans and isolating the fans who continue to tune in and support their team year after year. Isn't one Home Run Derby enough?
