Keep Pedicabs on the 16th street Mall
Why this petition matters

This will obstruct over 200+ people in paying their bills. It will impact the cities most vulnerable populations. and raise the risk of drinking an driving
We need your Help! Pedalcabbers are being removed as a means of transportation for the city of Denver's largest area for tourism. The mall is under construction and now with limited streets and areas to bring tourists, families, and people with disabilities we are being told that we can no longer work 16th street mall. The 16th street mall is under a major construction so we are abiding by the necessity to keep the remaining portions open to pedestrians. Although we also recognize that our future rights as contracted business’s are in jeopardy. Our future is unclear and we are demanding the right to stay an integral part of our cities' offerings. The city of Denver's Business excise center and district 9 city council can easily continue allowing us to use this area but are being persuaded by the security officers and Denver transportation department that we are more of a liability than an assest and are being asked to “Cease and Desest” without any accommodations or compromises.
The impact of this move will have on the 16th street mall and Denver's tourism is hard to imagine for most. Scooters and electric bikes already overpopulate the downtown area and are not as sustainable and environmentally sound as pedicabs. Our service is used by locals and elderly who step off the train trying to go to local businesses. We are good for tourists! We are frequently asked by visitors where they can find food and or where to find something in our downtown area and we give them a perspective of Denver that leaves a lasting memory. Lastly, Pedalcabs help keep downtown safe! We drive people, especially young women away from dangerous or otherwise threatening situations and most importantly curb the need for people under the influence to use their vehicles.
Without pedicabs on the mall, this romantic and unique means of transportation and tourist service will struggle to survive. Over 100 homeowners and small business owners will also struggle to pay their bills. Most pedalcabbers need this income to live in the city of Denver and damaging that income has a massive effect on the lives of these people.
Please help us keep pedicabbing regulated and an equitable service in the city of Denver.
