As the last 9 weeks approach we were informed that our school will be left with out a resource officer along with 10 other schools.  Our School Resource Officer (SRO) has made such a HUGE impact on the students and helps us to feel more safe.  He does everything from having conversations with us, making sure we are where we are supposed to be, helping the administration staff when there are threats and/or fights.  Who is going to do this now that the city feels the need to remove the SRO’s from 10 schools?  The city says they are short staffed and need more police to be able to do patrol jobs well, isn’t the safety and security of education spaces just as important?  The presence of a SRO opens the door for us to be able to build relationships with law enforcement and go to someone about school issues/safety concerns.  The SRO presence also is helpful to administration staff when there are safety concerns.  Please help me prove to my school that we need our school resource officer to stay!
