In light of the tragedy that occurred in Texas this petition is to get more safety agents and safety features at NYC public schools. Children and schools have become such a high target in America.

Did you know that there have been 27 school shootings just this year?  Robb Elementary school being the second highest since Sandy Hook Elementary school in 2012.

 Elementary schools are only allowed ONE unarmed school safety agent which means bathroom breaks, walk throughs, etc that front desk is guarded by any staff member at the school which has not been trained in safety measurements. Our school buildings are never locked. They remain open in case there is an emergency that occurrs where emergency personnel has to enter the school. Every parent wants to feel when sending their child to school they are safe!  

There are many more things we can do to keep our children and school staff safe.  Lock every door!  A buzzer for parents having to drop something off or pick something up. Use a key code to enter that will allow any emergency personnel to enter once they are given that code.  A simple radio call will provide that code to every patrolman in the area. More than one school safety agent in EVERY school.  

Two of the most deadliest school shooting were ELEMENTARY schools. I believe our school should have armed security. We secure concert venues, banks, etc. but our children aren’t entitled to be protected by an armed officer. NYC is failing us, our children and school staff by not protecting them. Why wait until it’s too late?  

Mayor Adams wants to keep our children safe, I think he should start by getting the Department of Education and the NYPD on board. More security in our schools immediately. If these safety measurements can be put in place families and children will feel more safe when going to school.

As a community We can prevent mass shootings as much as possible. Please sign this petition so that we can get our school doors locked, armed officers in or around the school building, bullet proof glass and extra school safety agents.
