For the past few years, Mrs. Elise Derewitz has served as the Orchestra director and teacher at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. Now, she is being replaced by Mrs. Maria O'Connor from the Colonial Middle School. We believe this decision is a mistake. Not only has Mrs. Derewitz allowed the High School students to work on much more challenging and rewarding pieces, but Mrs. O'Connor has no experience teaching a high school class. As seniors, we are disappointed that we will not be able to finish off our orchestra career with a teacher that has stood by us for the past three years, and will instead have to deal with an inexperienced replacement.
